Summer of Discontent

More than 250,000 people(or 50 by the Times) took to the streets to join the TUC in protests about the Government cuts and higher education policies.
While most of the protests were peaceful, a tiny minority were intent on causing damage and people would be outraged and shocked seeing mindless violence and vandalism perpetuated by these anarchists.
The message from the protests were clear: The Government should stop or at least reduce the magnitude of the cuts being embarked on as majority of the cuts would substantially affect the poorest of the society
The Prime Minister David Cameron should take heed and attempt to address some of the concerns raised by the protesters and not dismiss them as deficit-pretend idealists. The feeling is that it’s going to be a long summer of cuts, protests and more protests and politicians and union leaders alike must make sure to not make matters worse than it already is
Libyan crisis escalates

Britain, France and the United States launch UN-backed offensive on Libya with missiles fired from both air and sea
Security Council Resolution 1973

The UN passed the Security Council Resolution 1973 yesterday, with the usual suspects(China & Russia) abstaining and Germany surprisingly being cowards.
The next step is open to question, what if Gaddafi stops all air attacks and instead use ground forces to continue his reign of terror?, will NATO and other nations sit by or launch a full scale attack on forces loyal to Gaddafi?.
Nothing is sure, but what is much clearer is the majority of the world have made their voice heard and sent a clear message to Gaddafi that they won’t stand idly by and watch him slaughter his own people.
Prime Minister David Cameron has shown great courage and leadership in insisting from the start that the UN take a munch firmer approach to the Libyan crisis, President Obama must also be commended for letting the UN take a prominent place in proposing actions on Gaddafi
Gaddafi’s laughing

As Western powers struggle to come up with a plan to tackle the Libyan crisis, Gaddafi’s forces are killing the people(or drugged youths as Gadafi calls them) if Libya. Gaddafi’s forces have the superior weaponry to defeat the uprising and as Gaddafi’s son Saif said – “The rebels hotbed: Benghazi would fall within 48hrs”.
This goes on amidst UN wrangling over a resolution authorizing a no-fly zone over Libya. Both Obama and Cameron have both said Gaddafi ‘must’ step down and we all know the fool won’t do anything like that. Surely the Western powers that be must know that the only way Gaddafi would relinquish power is through force. As the conflict goes on, the question is: who blinks first, Gaddafi or the West?
